Van Marel Reunion, June 15-29,2011, in The Netherlands

Welcome to the Van Marel family Blog. In today's world, it takes a special effort to stay connected, but this may be some small effort!

The third Van Marel family reunion was held in the country of our forefathers. Distant cousins Willem and Joop van der Marel along with their wives Rina and Ann offered to put a family tour together and invited us to attend their family reunion during this 2- week period from June 15 to June 29, 2011. There were 24 family members who flew from the United States to be part of this celebration. The tour included a visit to all of The Netherlands provinces. A great time of bonding and seeing some very interesting sites was enjoyed by all.

The next family reunion is being planned to be back in Orange City, Iowa, during the 3rd weekend of May, 2013, which is the time of their annual Tulip Festival. Four van der Marel's from the Netherlands have already committed to join us. The grandchildren of Jake and Kate Van Marel will be coordinating this reunion again. Please put these dates on your calendar and more information will be available as we get closer to that time. We will look forward to seeing you and having another fun reunion.

Van Marel Family Reunion on May 15-20, 2013, in Orange City, Iowa

Welcome to the Van Marel family Blog.  We celebrated our 4 th semi-annual reunion in the area where Arie, one of the original family members, spent most of his adult life.  Family members came from various states, plus The Netherlands to get reunited and enjoy each other’s company.  Thanks to the family of Jake Van Marel for another very successful gathering!  We also have some WONDERFUL news!!  Willem van der Marel, from The Netherlands, has offered to host our next reunion in the country of our ancestors during the summer of 2015!  The enthusiasm at the banquet was overwhelming and we are looking forward to another fantastic tour!  Obviously, this will be open to ALL family members.  This tour probably will last about 2 weeks and will cover different places than were seen during our third reunion.  Please keep your schedules open and watch for details!
